These are the caterpillars of the Monarch butterfly. They have almost eaten all of my swan plant. I am now finding chrysalises everywhere! Don't you just love the texture of the swollen seed pods! I have 6 of these plants in my garden, hopefully each year I can do my bit for increasing the population of Monarch butterflies!Carole :)

Monarchs are one of my favrorite butterflies, but I am not fond of the catterpillers- they eat my dill! AND they never grace me with even one chrysalis. They just eat and run! Lucky you to be able to witness the whole process of butterfly creation.
